Don’t Get in My Space! — Hidden Valley Ranch, Prescott, Arizona https://ww2.prescottpinetreehomes.com/blog/uncategorized/dont-get-in-my-space-hidden-valley-ranch-prescott-arizona/ Thu, 07 Nov 2019 02:56:58 +0000 https://ww2.prescottpinetreehomes.com/?p=86 Hidden Valley Ranch and Haisley Homestead are two neighborhoods on the south edge of Prescott near the Prescott National Forest. These two neighborhoods were built among old Ponderosa Pine trees, so one has a sense of living in the forest. As the homes were built, care was taken to protect every Ponderosa Pine tree possible.

Deer are quite comfortable here, as evidenced by this one. She seems to be telling me that she has claimed this place and not to trespass on it.

Here is another photo of the deer. This photo was taken by my friend, Rick Henwood, in Haisley Homestead. It looks like the deer are quite content here.

Another great thing about these neighborhoods is that they are close to the Prescott National Forest on the south side of Prescott. Access is via White Spar Road aka Highway 89, on the west side and by Senator Highway on the east side. Senator Highway starts from Gurley Street as Mt. Vernon Street and changes into Senator Highway as the road passes by Palmer Hill.

Let’s Get a Dog Park in South Prescott https://ww2.prescottpinetreehomes.com/blog/beau/lets-get-a-dog-park-in-south-prescott/ Wed, 23 Oct 2019 20:15:19 +0000 https://ww2.prescottpinetreehomes.com/?p=89 Let’s work to persuade the City of Prescott to make a dog park for our Hidden Valley Ranch neighborhood and others in the area. As far as I know, the only public dog park in Prescott, Arizona is located at 3181 N Willow Creek Road. That dog park is around 2.25 acres. The route to get there runs through the center of Prescott.  It would be great to have a dog park that is closer. Google says the dogpark at 3181 Willow Creek Road  is 7.2 miles or 16 minutes from Whitespar and Copper Basin Rd (Woody’s).

It would also be great to have a place where I could take my dog, Beau, where he can be legally “off-leash.”

The next step is to have a meeting to build a following of those who might support the project. Let’s see if we can get the Clubhouse at Hidden Valley Ranch or even the one in Mountain Club. Our boundary includes Cathedral Pines, Forest Hylands, Haisley Homestead, Mountain Club as well as Summit Pointe. That is nearly 3,000 households. Our neighborhood has lots of voters. The City of Prescott has money to purchase open space. We need to build a following that is influential enough to be heard by the Prescott City Council.

Deer Staring down Beau, at Patio Window in Hidden Valley Ranch https://ww2.prescottpinetreehomes.com/blog/neighborhoods/hidden-valley-ranch/mule-deer-staring-down-beau-at-patio-window-in-hidden-valley-ranch/ Wed, 23 Oct 2019 20:04:29 +0000 https://ww2.prescottpinetreehomes.com/?p=92 Deer at my patio window.

I live in Hidden Valley Ranch in south Prescott. It is quite close to The Prescott National Forest, so we frequently have wild animals coming through our yard. It is common to see deer, javelina, and smaller animals such as squirrels, birds and rabbits here. I have heard that a neighbor only a few doors down had a mountain lion look in through the patio window.

This week I noticed my dog, Beau, also my real estate assistant, staring through the patio door rather intently. As I looked closer, this is the view he had.

Beau and the deer were having a “stare down.” The deer stayed there for a long time chowing down on a small tree that was there. It is easy to see how she would be a Mule Deer.

Beau knows the word deer. If I say the word “deer” or “did you see the “deer?” his radar and his ears go up and he whips his head around excitedly looking for the deer. When he gets the chance he tries to herd the deer. He is not effective at that as he cannot get in front of them.
